We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Site Safety Officer to join our team and help us maintain our commitment to safety on every job site.

Job Summary:

The Site Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing and enforcing safety regulations at our construction sites. This role involves ensuring that all site operations comply with safety regulations, as well as the company’s safety policies. The Site Safety Officer will conduct regular safety inspections, lead safety training sessions, and work closely with site management to identify and mitigate potential hazards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction safety, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The role will report to the company Health and Safety Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Safety Audits: Perform regular safety audits of the construction site to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Enforce Safety Standards: Monitor site operations to ensure adherence to safety standards, including PPE, and take immediate corrective action when necessary.
  • Safety Training: Organize and conduct safety training sessions for site workers, including toolbox talks, emergency procedures, and equipment usage.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards on the construction site and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Accident Investigation: Investigate any accidents or incidents on-site, conduct statutory notifications, and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Safety Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, training sessions, sub-contractor RAMs etc. Ensure all documentation is up to date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with site managers, project managers, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and ensure that safety considerations are integrated into all site activities.
  • Emergency Response: Ensuring First Aid Responders are available in the event of an emergency, and ensuring training is kept up to date. Maintaining on site safety equipment such as defibrillators are in good working order.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with the latest safety regulations and ensure that all site activities comply with relevant safety standards.
  • Qualifications/Education: Relevant Health and Safety Qualification required.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in construction safety or a similar role.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction safety regulations and best practices.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others to adhere to safety practices. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
